WELCOME

to my fan-page for a video game studio that is literally famous for making licensed games. Except their games are pretty damn cool. Sometimes.

Strong Bad insulting Telltale. He does this a lot in Poker Night.

For those who somehow don't know about Telltale’s legacy, let me give you a quick rundown:

Telltale Games, is/was a game studio formed in 2004 by ex-LucasArts developers. They're most known for their game design and adaptations of various famous franchises, like Batman, The Walking Dead, and Minecraft, just to name a few.

Telltale's main goal was always to make and tell engaging stories. You could even say they wanted to Tell Tales! Sorry.

Telltale’s early games were often point-and-click puzzle adventures. And poker games where you played with AI that would have conversations with each other. The poker games are obviously not story-based, they’re but still charming nonetheless.

Though Telltale's later, most popular works took on a “choose your own adventure” model. They were much more cinematic and had very simple gameplay that usually consisted of small puzzles, quick-time-events, and many dialogue trees.

What caused this change was Robert Kirkman allowing them to make a Walking Dead game. Many people consider it to be the worst and best thing to ever happen to Telltale. It defenitely made them more famous than that dog and rabbity-thing could ever make them! sorry again

Unfortunately, the studio had to file for bankruptcy in 2018 due to their last investor pulling out of funding. Rest in peace, we lost a real one.

Since then, the Telltale name has been revived. But this shrine isn't about new Telltale. Unless they actually make The Wolf Among Us 2. wink wink ttg get to work

In fact, I'd say this shrine is pretty much only 2005-2014 Telltale. Because the only games I really care about came out those years.

FAVORITES

My favorite games by Telltale. Subject to change as I play through them. Unfortunately there isn't a lot here yet..

Check out my list on Backloggd for all the Telltale games I have!

THE WOLF AMONG US (2013)

This is defintely the game that motivated me to learn more about Telltale as a studio, as it was the first game by them that I've fully played.

I think this game is super fuckin' cool. It has everything I love: Noir aesthetics, good writing, wolves and men and a man that is a wolf. 10/10 in my books.

Like all Telltale games, it has its flaws. This game felt a lot more punishing, but not too pushy with its choices. It was still a very engaging and thrilling story.

Poker Night at The Inventory (2010)

This game taught me how to play poker! I'm okay at it, I feel like there are much more efficent ways to learn.

It is literally just your average poker game, but you're playing with internet famous characters. The conversations are super endearing though. Telltale does a great job at making all these characters stay true to their sources while still fitting into this weird setting.

This all also applies to Poker Night 2. I LOVE POKER NIGHT!!!

The Walking Dead (Season 1, 2012)

I played this game shortly after I finished TWAU. Because I thought if I liked that game, I'd like TWD. I WAS RIGHT!!!

This season is my favorite out of all TWDG seasons. I think it absolutely isn't perfect. Just look at my homeboy Doug, they fucked his route up so bad..

Anyway, it is 100% the sad story people hype it up to be. Very fuckin' awesome.

GUIDES

Another collection of links! This time it's a collection of various TOOLS!!! And guides for various things!!!

I use a lot of Poker Night stuff for this, huh?

TELLTALE EXPLORERS

You can find a lot of awesome Telltale related softwares at Quick and Easy Software! Really you can do all kinds of neat things with these. Hell, they even work Skunkape and other Telltale tool games!

Here's some softwares I like/use:

Telltale Explorer
The all-in-one Telltale explorer/extractor. Allows you to VIEW, EXTRACT, and CONVERT resources from Telltale games!

Telltale Music Extractor
What it says it on the tin. Uh, just remember to check your file destination, cause.. a friend of mine didn't do that and his PC almost exploded. Could never be me though, I always read.

Telltale Speech Extractor
Again, pretty obvious what this is. Most useful for me personally because I like to look at the unused lines in The Walking Dead.

Also...
here is a super useful guide for model swapping in The Walking Dead. Which the Telltale Explorer can be useful for.

DELISTED GAMES

Unfortunately, a lot of stuff by Telltale is no longer available for purchase. Like Strong Bad's Cool Game, Poker Night, Minecraft Story Mode, Bone: Out from Boneville.. like I said a lot.

You can buy it second-hand, whether it be by buying a physical release or uh.. Steam keys or giving someone a bunch of stuff in TF2 so you can get Steam family sharing of the games or something. I dunno honestly.

Anyway, the Internet Archive is a Probably great place to look. I wouldn't know anything about that either. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
